CAS Confirms Uruguayan Sanctions after 2024 Copa América Clashes


On 13 May 2025, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) dismissed an appeal by Uruguayan footballers Darwin Núñez, Ronald Araújo, José María Giménez, Rodrigo Betancur, Mathías Olivera and the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) against sanctions imposed by the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) following a violent altercation during a 2024 Copa América game.
