Over the past few months, several arbitral proceedings before the Belgian Court of Arbitration for Sports (CBAS) have dealt with the obligation for arbitrators to suspend arbitral proceedings pending criminal proceedings. In two similar cases, the suspension of the arbitration proceedings has rightfully been ordered. In another case, a request for suspension has been duly dismissed.
