CAS Partially Uphelds Appeal in Malaysian Players Case


On 5 March 2026, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) partially upheld an appeal by seven players against FIFA, concerning sanctions for falsifying their naturalization and eligibility documents. The Panel ruled that the players shall receive a 12-month ban, but only from official matches, not from all football-related activities. A consolidated appeal by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) was dismissed and the FIFA-imposed fine on FAM remained in place.
