Initially, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the tournament organisers, cleared Melbourne Victory’s sponsorship by Hong Kong based media agency Kaishi Entertainment. This was even though the AFC formally forbids gambling sponsors being promoted by clubs in the ACL.
