Compulsory Vaccination of European Football Players: Is it a Likely Scenario?


At the beginning of the calendar winter 2021, Germany imposed new restrictions on people unvaccinated against COVID-19,[1] thus seeking to halt a dramatic surge in daily coronavirus infections possibly accelerated by the newly discovered Omicron mutation. If the pandemic situation does not improve in the nearest future, it is also possible that the German government shall reach a consensus to make the vaccination compulsory by law, thus following the example of their neighbors in Austria, which is about to become the first EU country to take such a measure in the face of the COVID-19 resurgence.[2]
