On 9 March 2026, the President of the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFOOT), Jean Guy Blaise Lionel Mayolas, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Brazzaville Criminal Court. Congolese authorities also detained other FECOFOOT.
In early March 2026, the Congolese justice system prosecuted Mr. Mayolas, along with several FECOFOOT members, for embezzlement, money laundering, forgery and use of forged documents, illegal taking of interest and complicity.
