FIFA Circular no. 1709, 13 February 2020

On 13 February 2020, FIFA published Circular Letter no. 1709 in which it outlines the various amendments to its Regulations on the Status and Transfers of Players (RSTP), which have now been incorporated into the March 2020 edition of the Regulations.

The main changes are as follows.

Bridge transfers

 

The RSTP now define “bridge transfer” and explicitly prohibit such illegitimate practices. This aims to ensure that football transfers have legitimate purpose and are not undertaken to circumvent FIFA regulations and applicable laws.
