On 1 September 2023, the world football’s governing body published its Circular letter no. 1856, which detailed the anti-discrimination measures that will be in place in the preliminary competition of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This highlights FIFA’s early efforts to tackle any discriminatory incident, including implementing an anti-discrimination monitoring system.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, whose final phase will take place from a yet-to-be-determined date in June to 19 July 2026, will be the 23rd edition of the FIFA World Cup. It will be jointly hosted by 16 cities in three countries for the first time: Canada, Mexico, and the United States (all Concacaf member associations).
