FIFA Publishes June 2019 Edition of the RSTP


FIFA has published the latest edition of the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (RSTP), with a notable modification in terms of third-party ownership (TPO).

Article 18ter of the RSTP, relating to third-party ownership, prohibits the assignment to a third-party of any rights in relation to a future transfer of transfer compensation of player. Clubs that are parties to a transfer agreement, as well as a player's previous clubs, were the only entities that could benefit of an assignment of such rights, often through sell-on clauses.
