On 14 December 2020, the world football’s governing body released Circular letter no. 1743, which contains amendments to the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (RSTP) and the Rules Governing the Procedures of the Players’ Status Committee and the Dispute Resolution Chamber (Procedural Rules). Both amended regulations have also been made public on the same day.
The new amendments to the FIFA RSTP, which will enter into force on 1 January 2021, establish a new regulatory framework detailing female footballers’ specific labor conditions. Amongst these new female footballers’ regulations, the following additions to the FIFA RSTP should be noted:
