In the absence of Kylian Mbappé’s signature on any amendment formalizing a modification of his remuneration or of any formalization of the oral agreement that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) claimed to have on this matter, the club could not, on its own initiative, withhold payment of the bonuses and salary contractually owed to the player. Based on the principle of pacta sunt servanda, the Paris Labour Court - in a judgment rendered on 16 December 2025 - ordered PSG to pay more than EUR 60 million to the French football star.

By an addendum dated 21 May 2022, French international footballer Kylian Mbappé extended his contract with PSG, which was therefore set to expire on 30 June 2024. The addendum notably allowed the player to extend his commitment for another season before 31 July 2023. It should be noted that the contract stipulated a signing bonus of EUR 110 million (payable in three instalments), a loyalty bonus of EUR 60 million (payable in two instalments), a monthly base salary of EUR 5.75 million and a monthly ethics bonus of EUR 500,000.
