Interview with James Johnson

Last year, there was a multi-stakeholder agreement on changes to the overdue payable provisions of the transfer system. This year, an unprecedented package of reform measures was agreed between key stakeholders. To find out more about the process, key changes and what the future transfer system may look like, we caught up with James Johnson who was an important player as FIFA’s Head of Professional Football before recently joining City Football Group as SVP External Affairs & Policy. Can you explain what your role was as Head of Professional Football at FIFA?

As Head of Professional Football at FIFA, I worked under the direction of the Football Stakeholders Committee (FSC) Chairman, driving the secretariat of the FSC and the Task Force Transfer System (Task Force).
