In April 2016, the China National Development and Reform commission and the Chinese Football Association issued a Chinese Football Mid-Long Term Development plan between 2016-2050. The state unveiled this plan for the country to become a “world football superpower” by 2050.[www.moe.edu.cn] A number of Chinese companies have been investing in the Football industry both at home and abroad.

Introduction

The Chinese Football Association (CFA) published “the CFA Professional Football Club Transfer Regulations” (CFA Club Transfer Regulations) on 27 October 2016 and entered into force on the day of its promulgation.[ii] This article will briefly examine the new regulatory regime and raise the potential issues under the CFA Club Transfer Regulations.
