Although Mathieu Valbuena (the Player) was first sentenced in 2014 to pay EUR 568,800 of fees to his former agent, the French Player - now playing for the Turkish club Fenerbahçe - has appealed to the Labour Court of Marseille to see condemn Olympique de Marseille (the Club) to compensate him for the same sum. The court decision was delivered on 13 June 2018.
Facts and Procedure
In June 2006, Mathieu Valbuena joined the ranks of Olympique de Marseille under a three-year fixed-term contract. This agreement was extended several times through successive amendments in which Mr Christophe Hutteau intervened as a sports agent of the Club.
On 1 September 2012, the sports agent, carrying out his activity on behalf of CH Conseil Management, had concluded a representation agreement with the French international for a period of two years.
