I. Introduction / Executive Summary
This article will, on the one hand, outline FIFA’s integrity initiative with its specific measures to promote integrity and protect football competitions against match manipulation.
In a second step, FIFA’s regulatory framework related to integrity and specifically match manipulation will be analysed with a specific focus on the reasoning of the landmark CAS award CAS 2017/A5173 Joseph Odartei Lamptey v. FIFA as an example of a violation of a provision against match manipulation in the FIFA Disciplinary Code (FDC). Furthermore, the integrity-related provisions in the new 2018 edition of the FIFA Code of Ethics (FCE 2018), which came into force in August 2018, will be examined.
