Spanish FA Presidential Candidate Investigated in Criminal Proceedings

It appears that the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) is facing never-ending legal problems. On 12 April 2024, Mr. Pedro Rocha, who is the only presidential candidate for the upcoming 6 May 2024 elections, was named as a person of interest in connection with several criminal cases that are impacting the governance of Spanish football.

On 27 March 2024, the Spanish public prosecutor issued an indictment asking for one year in prison for Luis Rubiales for the crime of sexual assault after giving a non-consensual kiss to footballer Jennifer Hermoso during the final of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
