The legal saga opposing FIFA leadership under Gianni Infantino’s stewardship and special Swiss Federal Prosecutor Stefan Keller seemed to come to an end on 5 May 2021, when Mr Keller, who was appointed on 24 September 2020 to investigate several alleged corruption cases related to FIFA, was recused by the Swiss FCC.

Swiss Federal Criminal Court Recuses Special Prosecutor Stefan Keller
On 5 May 2021, it was announced that the Swiss Federal Criminal Court (FCC) had removed Stefan Keller from his position as special Federal Prosecutor in charge of investigating FIFA. This decision was welcomed by the world football’s governing body.
