On 6 November 2021, Defensor Sporting Club issued an official statement in which it informed, among other measures, that as of 7 November 2021, nine players from its main squad would train separately. This resulted from an internal conflict between some members of the main squad, the coaching staff and various club officials.
As a result of this decision, six of the nine players filed a lawsuit against the club, claiming the termination of their contracts, as well as compensation for moral damages and sport specificity compensation.
