The potential effects of Brexit on football stakeholders

With the United Kingdom voting to leave the European Union, there will be significant ramifications across many industry sectors, and of course, football is not immune to the effects of this decision, popularly referred to as “Brexit.”

This article will first discuss possible outcomes for how the UK’s exit will be structured. Then, we will focus on the potential effects Brexit will have on a number of key stakeholders in football, including:

  • UK and EU clubs, and;
  • UK, EU, and non-UK/non-EU footballers.
