I often get asked “What is Sports law?” and it’s not always an easy question to answer!

Some lawyers might sell a player’s house or prepare a will for another player. Is that sports law? If you believe many legal firms’ websites, then it is! But perhaps that is more general law for sporting individuals.

For me, what crosses the line into sports law is when a lawyer is embroiled in sports specific laws or regulations. Not all countries have a Sports Act, but many do. However, most sports have now established their own regulatory framework and perhaps this is sports...
