On 27 December 2017, an incident took place during a match between two Belgian First Division clubs, Standard Liège and Courtrai (the club’s name in Dutch is “KV Kortrijk”).
“The referee’s report states that at the 42nd minute, player Agbo was sent off after receiving a second yellow card. He refused to leave the pitch immediately, in spite of a clear order from the referee. The defendant acknowledged during the hearing that Mr. AGBO did not leave the field immediately after being sent off. After some time, Mr. Agbo finally went off, making an obscene gesture to the main stand. At this point, certain KV Kortrijk supporters started to throw plastic cups at the player in question.
