FIFA Investigates Abuses in Gabonese Football


In early January 2022, the world football’s governing body started investigating alleged rumors of widespread sexual abuse in Gabonese football. The FIFA independent Ethics Committee was charged with a case of abuse targeting two Gabonese football officials.

The former coach of Gabon’s Under-17 coach Mr Patrick Assoumou Eyi and Gabonese football official and club president Serge Ahmed Mombo are being investigated by FIFA’s Ethics Committee after an undisclosed number of players stated that these two individuals asked for unwelcome sexual advances if the said players were to represent Gabon at the senior level. It seems that Mr Eyi may face up to 30 years in prison in his home...
