In April 2017, FIFA, FIFPro, the ECA and the World Leagues Forum have started discussions within FIFA’s new Football Stakeholders Committee (FSC). Why have the discussions resumed at this point? What is the main objective?

JP : As the World Leagues Forum has only been present in the football landscape for a few months, it had not been involved in the discussions between the stakeholders before April 2017.

I would say that there were a number of factors that came together to make it possible to resume these discussions.

First of all, a key factor was certainly FIFA’s decision to review its governance, as stated in their document “FIFA 2.0.” The creation of the FIFA Football Stakeholders Committee and what appears to be a genuine willingness from FIFA to develop a more inclusive governance of football changed the perspective.
