The introduction of the FIFA Regulations on Working with Intermediaries (FIFA RWI), which revokes the licensing system previously in force and releases FIFA’s jurisdiction over international disputes between players’ agents (now intermediaries) and clubs/players, coupled with the recent prohibition of the so-called “Third Party Players’ Ownership” (TPO) practice, have raised serious concerns in the South-American football market about the legal protection offered to investors and agents, stakeholders who vest a prominent role in countries such as Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Uruguay.
