
On 31
October 2017, the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) released a public
announcement informing about the fact that it had initiated a legislative
project according to which Romanian sports federations would be entitled to
receive certain economic rights, including the rights resulting from the sports
betting activity. Dan Alexandru Ghiță (Picture), President of ROMBET, one of
the most representative associations of the Romanian gambling industry, already
indicated his opposition to this legislative project.
In other words, sports federations (football and other federations), intend to oblige the betting operators to hand over a certain percentage of their earnings, based on agreements negotiated between the federations and the betting company operators.
