Introduction
On 27 June 2019, the Italian Government introduced a new tax law known as the Decreto Crescita, or the “Growth Decree” in English, with the aim of strengthening Italy’s unstable economy. The Decree is comparable to that known as the “Beckham Law” introduced by the Spanish Government in 2005, enabling wealthy foreign workers such as professional athletes, among which football players, to benefit from tax breaks.
